I Challenge You

Set a small goal or make a promise to yourself... and then keep it!!!

Maybe it is a 10 min morning devotional this every morning this next week.  Or a day without sugar.  It could be taking a 20 minute walk every evening for a week or completing a 24 hour fast.  Make this goal measurable and specific.

Being unhealthy does not always equal discontent.  No number on a scale will ever bring contentment.  That is something that comes from within. You may experience fleeting happiness or pride - and you should when you hit a goal! But I think the discontent comes because we let ourselves down and lose OUR OWN trust along the way.

The good news is we can turn this around! Do a short work out or take that walk or meditate and afterward just sit with it!  Be still for a moment and bask in the fact that you not only took some time for yourself, but lived up to your word! You are rebuilding confidence and esteem that you may not have even been aware you lacked. It may show in the form of anxiety or lack of patience or even chronic fatigue or bad posture.  Our body keeps score.  So, this week I challenge you to set a small, attainable goal but not only that - take time to inwardly celebrate each step you take toward hitting that target.  Acknowledge that it was hard, but you did it!

However, if you didn't hit that goal, I challenge you to - without judgement- analyze why.  You didn't want to get out of bed? Keep asking why.  Because you stayed up too late? Why? Family activities kept you up too late? Is this a chronic issue or a one-time thing because you had family visiting or a gala to attend? Maybe you didn't sleep well.  Why? Does this happen often? Back track and figure out how to manipulate events to set you up for success.  The most important thing is that you rebuild that trust in yourself so that you feel confident and taken care of, because you have a history of promises kept!
